The African's love for power!

Africans love power just for the love of it. Those Africans who possess the power never seem to use it for the benefit of the weak.

The African man prefers to have power first rather than money, because he knows that when he gets the power, he can always effortlessly get the wealth later.

He needs the power to deal with and be superior to his neighbours; he needs the power to oppress his people; he needs the power to perpetuate all kinds of evil and crime, hardly giving a thought to the repercussions or the end game that he himself would die one day; he needs the power to carry out revenge against imaginary and real enemies and rivals; he needs the power to steal audaciously from his people and country.

That is the African man for you. The African leader misapplies and abuses power without a second thought. This is probably part of our genetic make-up.

Put a uniform or any paraphernalia of authority on the African (male or female) and you have made him/her a mini-god. You have virtually given him immortality and immunity from worldly inconveniences. You have virtually given him/her the licence to abuse you; to kill you, to oppress you.

The society is replete with examples of this abuse and misapplication of power. Look at the police, the military, and the paramilitary like customs, immigration, and above all the politicians in Ghana.

UDS Vice Chancellor kicks against conversion of polytechnics into universities

Vice Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS) Prof. Gabriel Ayum Teye has made a case against the planned conversion of polytechnics into universities. According to him, the move will only increase the graduate unemployment population which currently stands at 300,000. This is according to data from the Institute of Statistical and Economic Research (ISSER). “Now we have 10 public universities that produce graduates and by next month we will have 16 public universities in Ghana. “So if you’re having problems with 10 and you add another 6 to it making 16 are you solving the problem or compounding it,” he queried. Prof Ayum Teye was speaking at the 22nd National Delegates’ Congress of the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG) in Tamale. Gov’t Intervenes As Court Orders Auctioning Of GHANASCO Cars

The Northern Regional Director of Education, Mohammed Haroon Cambodia has confirmed government will be paying a staggering GHC400,000 as judgment debt to a private citizen in order to stop the auctioning of vehicles belonging to the Ghana Senior High School in Tamale. Government is offering the bailout following a chronic transport difficulty that has hit the school for the last two years after a court order impounded the only bus for students and a brand new official pickup vehicle. Two Nissan patrol vehicles belonging to the Education directorate were also taken by the court. The vehicles were confiscated to be auctioned to pay up salary arrears of a former headmaster of the school who accused the school and education service of injustices including inappropriate dismissal and concealing his promotion letter. Late Lionel Mahama was dismissed as headmaster of the school in 1997. His salary was blocked for years until a CHRAJ ruled in his favor and ordered his reinstateme
