Installation

Q1. What are these add-ins?

These add-ins are productivity tools that enhance Excel by providing automation, shortcuts, and custom features.

Q2. How do I use an add-in?

To use an add-in, you:
• Unblock the file
• Enable Macros
• Install the add-in.

Q3. How do I unblock?

Right click on the closed workbook file, go to Properties > General tab, check the Unblock box, then click Apply and OK.

Q4. How do I enable macros?

Open Excel > Go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Macro Settings, then select Enable All Macros.

Q5. How do I enable the Developer tab?

Open Excel > Go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon, then check the Developer option in the right pane and click OK.

Q6. Do I need admin rights to install?

No. Installing an Excel add-in does not require administrator privileges.

Q7. How do I install an add-in?

• Method 1: Open Excel > Go to File > Options > Add-ins > Manage Excel Add-ins > Go. Click Browse, locate the add-in file (.xlam), select it, then click OK.

• Method 2: Open Excel > Go to Developer > Excel Add-ins > Browse, select the add-in file (.xlam), and click OK. Make sure the add-in is checked in the list to load it.

Q8. How do I uninstall an add-in?

• Method 1: Open Excel > Go to File > Options > Add-ins > Manage Excel Add-ins > Go. Uncheck the add-in from the list or remove its reference if browsing path was used, then click OK.

• Method 2: Open Excel > Go to Developer > Excel Add-ins, then uncheck the add-in from the list. If needed, select it and click Remove.

Q9. The add-in is not loading. What should I do?

Check if the add-in is listed under File > Options > Add-ins > Excel Add-ins. If unchecked, tick it and click OK. If missing, reinstall by browsing to the .xlam file.

Q10. Do I need to reinstall after every Excel update?

No. Once installed, the add-in remains active in Excel unless the file is moved or deleted.

Q11. Can I use the add-in on another computer?

Yes. Copy the .xlam file to the other computer, Unblock, Enable macros, Install, and Subscribe during or after Trial.

Q12. Can I share an add-in with colleagues?

Yes, you may share an add-in file, but license is restricted to a user. So, each user must Unblock, Enable macros, Install, and Subscribe during or after Trial.

Q13. Where should I store and install an add-in file?

It’s best to store and install an add-in in a permanent folder such as Documents\Excel Add-ins. Do not leave it in Downloads or Desktop to avoid accidental deletion.

Q14. Do the add-ins work on Mac?

No! These add-ins are designed for Windows Excel. Some features may not work on Mac due to VBA and COM differences.

Licensing & Activation

Q15. Internet required for activation?

No. All activations work offline.

Q16. First-time activation?

Start a 7-day free trial after agreeing to the EULA by clicking the Trial button.

Q17. Where is the add-in tab?

After installing, you'll find it in Excel's ribbon named after the add-in (e.g., xCases).

Q18. Trial expired?

You must purchase a valid subscription key to continue.

Q19. How do I buy subscription key?

Go to Help & Subscription > Subscription menu dropdown > By Subscription in the add-in tab, then follow the prompt.

Q20. How do I activate subscription?

Go to Help & Subscription > Subscription menu or the dropdown > Subscribe in the add-in tab, enter key, accept EULA and click on Subscribe.

Q21. How do I check activation remaining period?

Go to Help & Subscription > Subscription menu dropdown > Check Remaining Period in the add-in tab, then follow the prompt.

Updates

Q22. Check for updates?

Go to Help & Subscription > Check for Update. Follow instructions.

Q23. How are updates validated?

Downloaded from secure URL and verified via SHA256 hash.

Q24. Manual update?

Yes. Close Excel and then replace old file with the updated file manually if needed.

Security

Q25. Are the add-ins safe?

Yes. They do not send data externally. Ensure you downloaded them from a trusted source.

Q26. Will the add-ins slow down Excel?

No. The add-ins are lightweight and only run when you use their features.

Q27. Do the add-ins require internet access?

No! They run offline unless for some features like translation, and generating QR and bar codes, and for updates.

Q28. What if I get a security warning when opening Excel?

That’s normal when using macros. Ensure the add-ins are from a trusted source, then enable content.

Q29. Can I customize the add-ins?

No! The add-ins are Password-Protected. If you want changes, contact developer.

Troubleshooting

Q30. Add-in not working?

Common Reasons Why an Excel Add-In May Not Work:

1. File/Installation Issues
• File was moved, deleted, or not properly installed.
• Wrong file type (not .xlam).

2. Excel Settings
• Add-in not enabled or was disabled after a crash.
• Macros disabled in Trust Center.
• File is blocked (right-click > Properties > Unblock).

3. Permissions & Trust
• Not in a trusted folder.
• Blocked by antivirus, firewall, or admin policy.

4. Dependencies & Conflicts
• Missing references or incompatible libraries.
• Conflicts with other add-ins or wrong 32/64-bit declarations.

5. Code or Logic Errors
• Startup code (Auto_Open, Workbook_Open, etc.) contains errors.
• Ribbon UI or event handlers not correctly wired.

6. Environment Issues
• Excel version too old.
• User permissions or missing support files.

7. Policy Blocks
• Group policy disables add-ins/macros.
