Manually calculating a person’s age from their date of birth can be tedious and error-prone. 

The AlatiphA xCalcAge feature automates this process, providing an accurate age in years and months.


How It Works

1. Click on AlatiphA xCalcAge tab and then click on the Calculate Age button to open a userform.

2. Click on the calendar icon on the userform to select the date from a pop up calendar.

  • Note: Selecting a cell with a date, the Date Picker will register the date in Date Picker for easy and faster date picking. 

3. Click on Calculate Age button.


4. The age will be displayed in a textbox below the button as you can see above.

Tamale to Host Ghana Teacher Prize - 2022

Ghana Teacher Prize, an award scheme instituted to honour outstanding teachers annually is to be held this year in Tamale.   At a planning committee meeting held in the month of February, 2022, Tamale was proposed as the venue for this year’s Ghana Teacher Prize. This has subsequently been approved by the Honourable Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum. 293 staff resigned from GES in 2021 — Prof. Opoku-Amankwa

Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa - Director-General, Ghana Education Service The Director-General D-G of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, says only 293 staff resigned from the service in 2021. According to him, the total attrition from the payroll of the GES is 8,209, made up of 6,834 teaching staff and 1,375 non-teaching staff. Prof. Opoku-Amankwa gave the explanation as an official response to figures released by the Member of Parliament for the Builsa South Constituency, Dr Clement Apaak, that 44,000 out of the 284,000 teachers left the teaching profession in 2021. In response, the Ministry of Education issued a statement, basing its statistics on the Education Management Information Service (EMIS), a source Dr Apaak quoted in his submission, stated that the figure was rather 34,424 instead of the 44,000. GES Releases Approved Fees For SHSs

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released approved fees for second-cycle institutions for the 2015/16 academic year. Boarding students are expected to pay GH¢724.50, while day students will be required to pay GH¢405.50. The Director-General of the GES, Mr Jacob A.M. Kor, who signed the letter on the approved fees to be forwarded to all heads of second-cycle institutions, said admission fees would be GH¢20 and examination fees GH¢10 for boarders, day and technical students. Breakdown The letter said for boarders, feeding fee at GH¢3.30 per day would amount to GH¢308, while entertainment, library and SRC fees would be GH¢2, GH¢3 and GH¢2 respectively. Others such as cumulative records, sports and culture fees will be GH¢5, GH¢5, GH¢3, respectively. However, boarders would each pay GH¢2 as maintenance fees.
