Zabzugu chief murdered

The Chief of Salinkuga, a suburb of Zabzugu in the Northern Region has been murdered by unknown assailants. According to a family source on grounds of anonymity, the late Naa Sumani Tigu was shot on Tuesday evening at about 8:30 pm . The cause of the incident is yet to be established. The source implied that the late Salinkuga Naa was shot twice on the thigh and one of the bullets penetrated through his abdomen. The source revealed that he died in an ambulance on the way to the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH). Salinkuga, a village which is about eight miles away from Zabzugu Township is calm as security personnel patrol the area. The Northern Region has recorded a number of chieftaincy disputes that have left several people dead and others severely injured. The late chief of Bimbilla, Naa Andani Yakubu was also murdered by some unknown assailants at his residence in June. Transition to English (T2E) Plus Program to Improve Reading for Ghanaian Children outdoored

The Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service in partnership with USAID Ghana today launched the Transition To English (T2E) Plus Program through the USAID Partnership for Education: Learning Activity. The launch , which was held at the Alisa Hotel was to recognize the collaborative efforts of the Government of Ghana and the U.S Government to support over 5,000 schools in all 16 regions.  The Program will air supplemental radio reading lessons nationwide; conduct training, coaching, and mentoring for primary 1 through primary 3 teachers and education personnel; and provide teaching and learning materials for pupils, caregivers, and teachers.  Through this program, trained teachers will use NaCCA-validated materials in English and the official Ghanaian Languages of Instruction (GLOI) to teach pupils to read.  In addition to in-classroom support, pre-recorded, interactive radio reading lessons will be aired in classrooms and on targeted Regional radio stations to co...
