Don’t transfer fear for maths to children - Lecturer advises parents

A former Dean of the Faculty of Science Education of the University of Education, Winneba, Prof. Samuel Kwasi Asiedu-Addo, has advised parents not to transfer their fear of Mathematics to their children through their words. He said most parents who had difficulty with Mathematics while in school tend to describe the subject with negative words thus involuntarily instilling the fear of the subject into their children. According to him, parents should encourage their children through positive words and not tell them about their own challenges with the subject. He said when parents did that, the children did not feel encouraged to do better in the subject “because after all, even daddy does not like Mathematics”. Akpos wish!

A bus carrying many people crashed on an icy road, burst into flames, and killed everyone. Upon arrival in heaven, God says "Since you have died in a terrible way, I'll grant you one wish before I let you into heaven. The first woman, being a person always concerned on her looks, comes up to God and says, "I wish to be beautiful." God grants her wish. The next person can’t decide on what to wish for so ends up wishing for the same thing. At this point Akpos at the very back of the line starts to laugh. The next couple of people make their wish to become beautiful and Akpos at the end laughs even louder. One after another the people wish the same thing and the closer God gets to the end of the line, the harder Akpos laughs. When God finally reaches him, he asks, "What is your wish my son?" Akpos says, "Make them all ugly again!

Murtala offers ‘sincere’ apology for outburst

Deputy Minister of Trade, Murtala Mohammed, has rendered an unqualified apology to the president and Ghanaians in general for his recent  RADIO  outbursts. Incensed by what he says are attempts by some MPs to unseat him, and daring them to do their worse, Murtala alleged that his detractors have gone to the extreme of bribing chiefs and opinion leaders in the Northern Region with "filthy, ill-gotten money". Though he would not mention names when he spoke to Diamond FM, Murtala also threatened to expose an MP who is conniving with a woman to take nude pictures of a cabinet minister. “It is pathetic, absolutely pathetic: it's unethical, it's so funny, it's so stupid, it's so silly, it's nasty, it's un-Islamic for people in the same party to be sitting down and their intention is about how they can get someone out of Parliament”, the Deputy Minister said.
