Confusion rocks NPP congress in Tamale

The timely intervention of security personnel stopped the ongoing NPP super delegates congress  in Tamale from turning bloody. Confusion broke out when one of the delegates after casting his vote displayed it to the gathering. Agents of some of the aspirants got furious about his conduct and demanded nullification of his vote. The confusion ended the smooth conduct of the exercise which lasted for close to 10 minutes. Voting started at 10:04 am but sanity is prevailing after the confusion and the exercise is expected to be over anytime soon. Some of the delgates also shot their votes on their cellular and showed them to the party supporters to indicate their stand. By: Karim Naatogmah/citifmonline.com/Ghana

Pack your things and ....

My wife and I were having a serious quarrel when I said to her... "pack your things and ....." At that point, her phone rang, so I had to stop for her to receive the call. It was her dad. The phone was on speaker so I could hear what he was saying. After the usual pleasantries between father and daughter, he said: "my daughter, I have transferred Gh¢1,000,000 into your account, give your husband Gh¢500,000 out of it, and you can have the other half." After the good-byes, the call ended, and she turned to me: "you said I should pack my things and do what?" "I SAID PACK YOUR THINGS AND GIVE THEM TO ME TO WASH". *Pls don't smile alone, put smile on someone's face too.

The founder and general overseer of Word Victory Chapel International, Prophet Doctor Emmanuel Kofi Enim has prophesied victory for President John Dramani Mahama in the 2016 general election. He has also prophesied that the 2012 presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, would emerge as the winner in the NPP congress on Sunday. He said God revealed the victory of President Mahama to him through a vision and has asked him to make it known to Ghanaians as a sign of God’s endorsement of the President. “In a very explicit vision, I saw the president seated on a presidential seat and clad in a White wear with an inscription, 2016. I asked God the meaning of the vision and He told me President Mahama is destined to win the 2016 general election and would be enthroned for the second time as president,” he told the Ghanaian Times yesterday in Accra. According to him, the vision was not borne out of political motivation or affiliations but as a ne

I never slept well during election petition hearing; Bawumia reveals

Image
It was an historic act and a landmark case challenging the outcome of a Presidential election and he was at the centre of it all. One year after a verdict that drew tears from many, star witness in the Presidential Election Petition Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has revealed, he had sleepless nights throughout the eight long months of the case. The New Patriotic Party's 2012 presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo; his running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and then party chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, has prayed the Court to annul the election results which they claimed was fraught with irregularities. The entire nation came to a standstill on August 29, 2013 earnestly expecting to hear the decision of the nine-member panel of judges who heard the case, led by Justice William Atuguba. The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has alerted residents in the catchment area of the White Volta to the spillage of the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso, from Friday August 29. Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the National Coordinator of NADMO, Mr Kofi Portuphy, said the water in the dam would be spilled because it had reached a critical level. Areas to be affected by the spillage include the Northern, Upper East, Eastern and the Volta regions. He, therefore, advised that residents in those areas should be ready to be evacuated to higher ground since the spillage  was likely to cause flooding in those areas. Mr Portuphy appealed for co-operation from all spheres of the society, especially the chiefs and opinion leaders, during and after the spillage. He also called on women who hunt for wild nuts and firewood to be careful and stay at home

Barcamp Tamale participants condemn sex scandal

Participants at the fourth edition of the Tamale Barcamp Ghana have condemned the sex scandal which went viral on social media networks. They however cautioned against any attempt to use that isolated phenomenon to hastily generalize that Tamale has lost its  trademark as the beacon of Islam in Ghana. The event which was organized by GhanaThink Foundation brought together about 180 youth from across the Northern Region. The participants interacted and networked with role models whose successes in various disciplines cannot be underestimated. The participants were taken through activities such as speed mentoring, panel discussions and user generated breakout sessions. These activities sought to harness the energy, drive and entrepreneurial spirit of participants to bring about positive action. Director of GhanaThink Foundation, Ato Ulzen Appiah advocated the need to put in measures to prevent the Tamale sex scandal from reoccurring. On the main event, he explained that it was mea

Bimbilla Chief murder: three granted bail

Image
Three people suspected to have a hand in the murder of the Bimbilla Chief have been granted bail. Explaining the facts of the matter, Northern Regional Police PRO, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh said the police initially arrested four persons but during interrogations, information the police gathered was not conclusive enough to establish a case against them. The police arrested the three persons at Wulensi – a community in the Northern region. The town's people had suspected them of murdering the Bimbilla Chief. ASP Tetteh continued that despite being bailed, the Northern Regional Police Command would not relent in its efforts to bring the perpetrators to book, as investigations are ongoing. In June, the Paramount Chief of the Nanumba Traditional Area, Naa Dasana Andani was killed, along with three other family members by some unknown assailants at his palace in Bimbilla. The attack also inflicted several injuries on some five persons including a five-month-old baby, who were later admi

Wedding Test – Adults Only

Image
My wonderful girlfriend and I had been dating over a year and so we decided to get married. There was only one little thing bothering me…It was her beautiful younger sister. My prospective 21 year old sister-in-law , always wore very tight mini skirts, and often times went bra-less. She would regularly bend down when she was near me, and I've always got more than a nice view. One day her little sis called and asked me to come over to check out the wedding invitations. She was alone when I arrived, and she whispered to me that she had feelings and desires for me that she couldn’t overcome. She told me that she wanted to have me just once before I get married, and commit my life to her sister. Well, I was in total shock, and couldn’t say a word. She said, "I’m going upstairs to my room, and if you want one last wild fling, just come up and get me". I was stunned and frozen in shock as I watched her go upstairs. I stood there for a moment, then turned and headed straight

Stop trivialising issues!

There is a tendency in this country for us to trivialize everything. When a serious issue comes up and gets widespread attention, instead of attaching the importance that it demands to it, we look for a way to turn it into a joke and somehow allow it blow past. But something more serious is on ground now. It is the outbreak of the ebola virus. The facts on ground prove that for now, there is no known cure for the ebola virus. To serious minded people, this is a very serious issue, a near epidemic with serious consequences. But this is Ghana, where everything is trivialized & worse still, exploited. But ebola is not one of our numerous political and economic problems. Ebola is not about corruption. Ebola is likely to be here, and if we do not prepare to face this squarely with all we have, ebola will engulf us, and kill all of us. This is no joke. This is not an issue that should follow the same path as other issues we have faced in this country. This is an issue that demands ext

How Israel brought Gaza to the brink of humanitarian catastrophe !

Image
Oxford professor of international relations Avi Shlaim served in the Israeli army and has never questioned the state's legitimacy. But its merciless assault on Gaza has led him to devastating conclusions! The only way to make sense of Israel's senseless war in Gaza is through understanding the historical context. Establishing the state of Israel in May 1948 involved a monumental injustice to the Palestinians. British officials bitterly resented American partisanship on behalf of the infant state. On 2 June 1948, Sir John Troutbeck wrote to the foreign secretary, Ernest Bevin, that the Americans were responsible for the creation of a gangster state headed by "an utterly unscrupulous set of leaders". I used to think that this judgment was too harsh but Israel's vicious assault on the people of Gaza, and the Bush administration's complicity in this assault, have reopened the question. I write as someone who served loyally in the Israeli army in the mid-1960s an
