"Don't retaliate" Tamale Dakpema warns after escaping near assassination

The Dakpema Palace has called for calm in the Tamale Metropolis following gun attack on Monday, 7th March, 2022 over suspected chieftaincy conflict.

This comes after some youth and residents in the area vow to retaliate over the assassination attempt on Tamale Dakpema, Naa Fuseini Bawa by an unknown gunmen.

The attack left some five persons including the Chief hospitalized at the Tamale Teaching Hospital after sustaining vying gun wounds.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, spokesperson for the Dakpemli family, Mr. Basharu Dabale said Naa Bawa Fuseini does not subscribe to any form of retaliation or violence, hence the youth should not attack any body.

"No member of the Dakpema family should attack anybody in retaliation, Naa Dakpema saysweshould leave the case to the police to investigate this criminal attack, the official position of the palace is that we are appealing to the police to look for the perpetrators of the heinous crime to ensure that law and order is maintain in Tamale".

According to him, Tamale is the home of their forefathers, so therefore, the Dakpema palace will not wage war against anybody in the Metropolis.

"We will be the last People to wage war against anybody in Tamale here, we will not resort to violence to drum home our demand, that will be our last ultimatum, we are appealing to politicians and traditional authorities to delink Chieftaincy out from this arm attack, it's an arm attack and it will treated as such".

According to him, the Dakpema palace has no chieftaincy issue with any Chieftaincy divide in Northern Region.

He indicated that the Dakpema palace is not wick and no body should take their leniacy as wickness.

Mr. Basharu noted that the Dakpema palaceis an epitome of peace in Dagbon, as a result an official complaint have lodged at the police station for the necessary action to be taken by the security.

He added they will give the police the needed support but if they fail to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators, they palace will assume that the security service is condoning with criminals.

Gov’t Intervenes As Court Orders Auctioning Of GHANASCO Cars

The Northern Regional Director of Education, Mohammed Haroon Cambodia has confirmed government will be paying a staggering GHC400,000 as judgment debt to a private citizen in order to stop the auctioning of vehicles belonging to the Ghana Senior High School in Tamale. Government is offering the bailout following a chronic transport difficulty that has hit the school for the last two years after a court order impounded the only bus for students and a brand new official pickup vehicle. Two Nissan patrol vehicles belonging to the Education directorate were also taken by the court. The vehicles were confiscated to be auctioned to pay up salary arrears of a former headmaster of the school who accused the school and education service of injustices including inappropriate dismissal and concealing his promotion letter.
