44-year-old Ebenezer Kojo Otoo is 2021 Most Outstanding teacher

Ebenezer Kojo Otoo, a 44-year old Visual Arts and Ceramics teacher at the Winneba Senior High School in the Central Region who also doubles as a farmer was Tuesday adjudged the Most Outstanding Teacher for 2021 at a ceremony which was organised to commemorate the World Teachers Day in Sunyani.

For his prize, the 2021 Most Outstanding Teacher, who was among 19 other teaching and non-teaching staff of the Ghana Education Service who were honoured during the occasion was presented with a cheque for GH¢250,000, which is to be used to construct a three-bedroom house.

Reverend Sister Justinta Kwakyewaa made both the Catholic Church and the Saint Francis Senior High and Technical School in the Birim Central in the Eastern Region proud when she was adjudged the First Runner Up and presented with a double-cabin pickup vehicle.

As if winning the Most Outstanding Teacher prize was not enough, another teacher from the Awutu Swinton SHS in the Central Region claimed the saloon car at stake when he was adjudged the 2nd Runner Up at the occasion.

A proud award winning Kojo Otoo, who was wore a Kente cloth with a native sandals to march told Graphic Online that he had previously won a number of awards.

With his kente cloth on, he walked majestically in the company of some family members to collect his prize amid clapping and shouting from the packed Eusbett International Hall.

The occasion, which was held on the theme: “Teachers Wanted: Reclaiming Teaching and Learning for Human-centred Recovery” was attended by some ministers of state, officials of the Ghana Education Service, the Ministry of Education, various teacher unions and a cross-section of teachers from all over Ghana.

Vice Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS) Prof. Gabriel Ayum Teye has made a case against the planned conversion of polytechnics into universities. According to him, the move will only increase the graduate unemployment population which currently stands at 300,000. Gov’t Intervenes As Court Orders Auctioning Of GHANASCO Cars

The Northern Regional Director of Education, Mohammed Haroon Cambodia has confirmed government will be paying a staggering GHC400,000 as judgment debt to a private citizen in order to stop the auctioning of vehicles belonging to the Ghana Senior High School in Tamale. Government is offering the bailout following a chronic transport difficulty that has hit the school for the last two years after a court order impounded the only bus for students and a brand new official pickup vehicle. Two Nissan patrol vehicles belonging to the Education directorate were also taken by the court. The vehicles were confiscated to be auctioned to pay up salary arrears of a former headmaster of the school who accused the school and education service of injustices including inappropriate dismissal and concealing his promotion letter.
