McDan Donates GH¢200,000 to Dagbon fund

Dr Daniel McKorley,  Chief Executive Officer, Mcdan Group Businessman and Chief Executive Officer of Mcdan Group, Dr Daniel McKorley has contributed Gh¢200,000 into the Dagbon Development Fund. Dr McKorley who is also the Gub-gbai Naa made the presentation at the end of the celebration of Naa Damba at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi on Sunday. Earlier, the Dagbon caucus in parliament has contributed Gh¢100,000 into the Dagbon Development Fund. The Dagbon caucus includes all 18 Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Northern Region.NPP MP for Gushegu who is also Deputy Transport Minister, Hassan Tampuli and Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu jointly announced this at the 2021 Damba Festival held at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi on Sunday. Facebook’s leaked smartwatch looks like the Apple Watch, but with a notch and a camera

Facebook or “ Meta ”, if the newly announced rebranding is to be followed immediately, apparently has a smartwatch coming out.  This has been rumored for months, but a new leak today all but confirms it. Mark Gurman, who has a strong track record with covering leaks from Apple, revealed in  Bloomberg  today details of the upcoming Facebook, uh, Meta smartwatch (codenamed “Milan” according to leaked codes), including a leaked render. Facebook watch Yes, it looks just like an Apple Watch, except it has a late 2018-era Android waterdrop notch housing a camera.  Do note the notch eats into the bottom of the display, not the top. Breaking News - Facebook changes its name to Meta in major rebrand

Facebook has changed its name to Meta as part of a major rebrand. The company, which announced the change at its annual developer conference, said it would better "encompass" what the firm now does. It also revealed plans for a metaverse - an online world where people can game, work and communicate in a virtual environment, often using VR headsets. The name change follows a series of negative stories about Facebook, based on documents leaked by an ex-employee. Frances Haugen has accused the company of putting "profits over safety". In 2015, Google restructured its company calling its parent firm Alphabet, however, the name has not caught on.

Instagram finally lets everyone add links to their stories

Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms in the world, and to prevent abuse on the platform, there are some features that you need to jump through additional hoops to get. One major feature that was locked behind a follower count was the ability to share links to your stories.  Previously, you needed to either be verified or have a large number of followers to share links onto your Instagram story, which meant a lot of people couldn’t share links. Now that’s changing, as Instagram is finally letting anyone add a link to their story in the form of a sticker if they want to. It’s quite tricky to capture the correlations of the 2019 NDC presidential primaries, and the forthcoming race ahead of election 2024. But here’s two school of thought within the NDC over the direction of the party and who will face either Dr Bawumia or Alan Kyeremanten in 2024;   The first school of thought says, Mahama ought to be given the opportunity to go for his second term unopposed.  This group believes that he has what it takes to win power for the party in 2024. Security researchers say iPhone users should uninstall Facebook from their handsets

The first batch of commercials that Apple created to help sell its new smartphone back in 2007 included one that was aimed at Facebook users.  "If you love Facebook so much that you check it every time you're at the computer, just think how great it would be to check it every time you're, well, nowhere near your computer."  Of course, back then there was no App Store and you would have to use the mobile Safari browser to access the site. Facebook uses your phone's accelerometer to collect personal data Now, over 14 years later, iOS users are being warned by security researchers (via Forbes) that they need to delete the Facebook app from their phones.  Why? Private schools licence renewal now 3 years - Education Minister

Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum The renewal of licences for established schools will now be done every three years, the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has directed. The schools are, however, supposed to pay their licence (subscription) fees yearly. Explaining the rationale for the decision, the minister said the yearly licensing “puts the schools on edge that this year, they are licensed, next year they may not be licensed and so, what we have directed as a ministry is that the licensing regime should be three years. “In that way, we are separating licensing from the mere payment of fees that are due to National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA),” Dr Adutwum explained. WhatsApp tests a new redesign for Picture-in-Picture mode

WhatsApp has had picture-in-picture mode since 2018. PiP mode is convenient; when somebody sends you a video link from YouTube, Instagram, or Facebook, it lets you play the video in a small floating window right within the chat, so you don’t have to leave the conversation. While the feature has mostly remained unchanged over the years, WhatsApp is finally giving it a facelift in the latest update. According to  WABetainfo ,  WhatsApp is testing a new redesign for the picture-in-picture mode that adds a new control bar to the video player. The control bar appears at the bottom of the video and features controls like the pause/resume button, full-screen button, and close button. Previously these controls appeared on the video feed itself and kind of got in the way of the viewing experience. Facebook could no longer be called Facebook as of next week

Facebook wants to change its company name as soon as next week, according to a new report from  The Verge .   The new name will reportedly reflect Facebook’s focus on building the metaverse, a concept that has quickly become a buzzword in the tech world in recent times. 'No Ghana Card, No salary' directive by Controller suspended

Mr Ignatius Baffour Awuah - Minister for Employment and Labour Relations The directive by the Controller and Accountant General's Department (CAGD) for all public sector workers to register with the National Identification Authority (NIA) and obtain a Ghana Card or forfeit their salaries by December 1, 2021 has been put on hold. Instead, the Controller and Accountant General's Department (CAGD) has been tasked to port the names of public sector workers in their existing database onto the National Identification Authority (NIA) platform and thereafter, inform the various institutions of any unregistered staff that may exist. The latest decision was arrived at following a meeting by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, Ministry of Finance, the CAGD and the leadership of organised labour representing public sector workers on CAGD payroll Tuesday morning. The mayor thanked Henry Djaba Foundation for the brilliant initiative and appeal to stakeholders to come out with ideas to eradicate Kayayei in Ghana. NaCCA holds training programme for publishers on CCP Curriculum

On the 5th of October, 2021, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) in collaboration with Rainbow Plus Publications held a training programme for publishers on the Common Core Programme (CCP) Curriculum and its implementation at the Christian Village, Kumasi.   The programme was to sensitise publishers on the contents of the CCP and the role of publishers in its implementation. In his address, the Acting Director-General for NaCCA, Mr John Mensah Anang, thanked Rainbow Publications for such a partnership heralding the yet-to-be introduced curriculum for learners from B7 (JHS 1) to B9 (JHS 3). DVLA take steps to enforce motorcycles registration in northern region

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has advised motorcycle dealers in the northern region to ensure that their clients register their machines at the point of buying to avoid arrest by police when they are found riding without registration numbers. The DVLA Manager for the northern region, Mr Abdulai Mutawakil said dealers who fail to comply with this directive in the coming months will lose out in business because the authority will ensure the public do not purchase their products. He disclosed the DVLA has in the past few months activated the Motor Dealers Association of Ghana chapter in the northern regional capital, Tamale. 2021 National Service postings released; 81,081 graduates deployed

The list postings were released on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. A total of 81,081 graduates from accredited tertiary institutions who enrolled for the 2021/2022 have been deployed for national service to various user agencies across Ghana. Ebenezer Kojo Otoo, a 44-year old Visual Arts and Ceramics teacher at the Winneba Senior High School in the Central Region who also doubles as a farmer was Tuesday adjudged the Most Outstanding Teacher for 2021 at a ceremony which was organised to commemorate the World Teachers Day in Sunyani. For his prize, the 2021 Most Outstanding Teacher, who was among 19 other teaching and non-teaching staff of the Ghana Education Service who were honoured during the occasion was presented with a cheque for GH¢250,000, which is to be used to construct a three-bedroom house. Gov’t Intervenes As Court Orders Auctioning Of GHANASCO Cars

The Northern Regional Director of Education, Mohammed Haroon Cambodia has confirmed government will be paying a staggering GHC400,000 as judgment debt to a private citizen in order to stop the auctioning of vehicles belonging to the Ghana Senior High School in Tamale. Government is offering the bailout following a chronic transport difficulty that has hit the school for the last two years after a court order impounded the only bus for students and a brand new official pickup vehicle. Two Nissan patrol vehicles belonging to the Education directorate were also taken by the court. The vehicles were confiscated to be auctioned to pay up salary arrears of a former headmaster of the school who accused the school and education service of injustices including inappropriate dismissal and concealing his promotion letter.
