Google is making it easier to access your saved passwords from your smartphone

It’s Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and companies are taking this opportunity to make their products safer for users. We’ve already seen Mozilla add password auto-fill support on Firefox for Android. 

Now, Google wants to make your online experience more secure by introducing critical improvements to how you sign in on different apps and services. The most notable of these changes is a feature that lets you easily access your saved passwords via the Google app on your smartphone.

In a recent  announcement, Google revealed that you will now be able to access passwords saved in Google’s password manager more conveniently. If you’re an ardent Chrome user, you would already be familiar with the password manager built into the browser. It lets you store passwords whenever you sign up on a new website, allowing you to quickly log in the next time you visit that website.

The same password manager is also available on other products, including Android and the Google app. But it doesn’t allow you to access your saved passwords on these platforms. However, with an upcoming update, Google is adding the ability to let you access your saved passwords directly from the Google app.


Following the update, you will be able to access the password in a much simpler way by just opening the Google app on your smartphone. This is especially useful if you’ve used Chrome’s auto-fill feature to generate a complex password for a service you signed up for and you don’t remember it.

While accessing your saved passwords through Chrome isn’t all that complicated, the new update will make the process even simpler. Once it starts rolling out, you should see the Password Manager in the Google app menu. Currently, Google hasn’t shared a release timeline for the features. We’ll update this post as soon as we have more information.

250 Labone students sacked for non-performance

Two hundred and fifty students of the Labone Senior High School (SHS) have been sacked for their abysmal performance in the end-of-year examination in July, this year. The students, who had an average of four failures in eight subjects, were sent packing when the first term of the 2014/2015 academic year began. Out of the number sacked, 155 of them were second-year students who were supposed to go to Form Three, while 95 were first-year students entering their second year.Also, 171 students who had an average of three failures in the examination have been asked to repeat their forms. About 800 Form Two students of the school were supposed to enter Form Three, while the number of first years who were expected to enter second year was 1,000. The action, according to the Headmistress of the school, Mrs Mary Amankwah, was in line with the school’s policy agreed upon by both the students and their parents at the time oftheir admissions. Family To Auction GHANASCO Cars As Govt Fails To Intervene

The family of late Lionel Mahama, a former headmaster of the Ghana Senior High School (Ghanasco) in Tamale, who won a court case against the school and Education service for wrongful demotion and freeze of salary, is ready to auction the confiscated assets of the school after failure by authorities, including government to pay a judgment debt awarded by the court.  Diana Awuni, daughter of the late headmaster told Starr News the family had finally secured a clearance document from the court and that a Kumasi-based auctioneer would arrive in Tamale in a fortnight to begin the process to liquidate the vehicles. It has emerged that the free senior high school education promised by President John Mahama, which he claims will be set in motion from the 2015/2016 academic year, is going to be at a cost of only GH¢50.00 per student. Gov’t Intervenes As Court Orders Auctioning Of GHANASCO Cars

The Northern Regional Director of Education, Mohammed Haroon Cambodia has confirmed government will be paying a staggering GHC400,000 as judgment debt to a private citizen in order to stop the auctioning of vehicles belonging to the Ghana Senior High School in Tamale. Government is offering the bailout following a chronic transport difficulty that has hit the school for the last two years after a court order impounded the only bus for students and a brand new official pickup vehicle. Two Nissan patrol vehicles belonging to the Education directorate were also taken by the court. The vehicles were confiscated to be auctioned to pay up salary arrears of a former headmaster of the school who accused the school and education service of injustices including inappropriate dismissal and concealing his promotion letter.
