2021 National Service postings released; 81,081 graduates deployed

The National Service Scheme (NSS) has released postings for the 2021/2022 service year.

The list postings were released on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.

A total of 81,081 graduates from accredited tertiary institutions who enrolled for the 2021/2022 have been deployed for national service to various user agencies across Ghana.

A statement signed and issued by the new and Acting Executive Director of NSS, Mr Osei Assibey Antwi advised prospective service personnel to log on to the scheme's website http://www.portal.nss.gov.gh to confirm the specifics of their placements before visiting their respective user agencies to endorse their letters of appointment.

"Management wishes to inform the general public that, some prospective service personnel have been placed on hold for further verification due to discrepancies detected in their online registration details," the statement added.

"Notifications have already been sent to the affected personnel and they are hereby directed to visit any regional office of the scheme with a copy of the enrolment forms, student ID, any national ID and a soft copy of their passport picture saved with their NSS number as file name to clear them for posting," it said.


Regional Office/ Zonal Registration process

It said to help minimize excessive crowds at the registration centers, all posted national service personnel are required to schedule an appointment online and visit the registration centers on the scheduled date and time for validation with strict adherence to the COVID-19 protocol guidelines.

It is important to note that posting registration should be completed by Friday, November 5, 2021.

The NSS management has further directed all graduates who have been duly posted and accepted by their user agencies to begin their national service on Monday, October 11, 2021 even as they undergo the validation exercise.

This is a special provision implemented to facilitate service registration following the delay in the release of the postings in the wake of COVID-19.

All deployed national service personnel are entreated to accept their postings as part of their civic obligations to contribute meaningfully to national development.

District Assembly’s Vehicles Seized Over Indebtedness

A Bolgatanga High Court has impounded two vehicles belonging to the Talensi District Assembly for its inability to pay its debt to Tomore and Sons Company Ltd. The two cars are the official black Nissan Patrol of the District Chief Executive, with registration number GN 1790-11, and a red Navara Pick-Up with registration number GT 3591-11, which is the official vehicle for the District Coordinating Director. Tomore and Sons Company Ltd is demanding a total amount of GH¢ 81,345 from the Talensi District Assembly. The total debt comprises the principal amount of GH¢51,000, an interest of GH¢25,245 accrued from October 2012 to October 2014, and the legal cost of GH¢5,100. In October 2011, Tomore and Son Company Ltd, a construction firm, was awarded a contract by the Talensi District Assembly, then the Talensi-Nabdam District Assembly, to build a one-unit three classroom block with a store, four seater KVIP and urinal at Woog, all valued at GH¢60,000. Fire guts NORRIP warehouse

A warehouse belonging to the Northern Regional Rural Integrated Programme (NORRIP) in Tamale was yesterday destroyed by fire. The cause of the fire, which was said to have begun at about 1:45 p.m. yesterday, is yet to be established. Items However, items destroyed at the facility included vulcanising machines, wielding machines, car spare parts, refrigerators, mattresses, beds, furniture, pumping machines, air filters, and four 20-footer containers containing varied household items. In an interview with the Daily Graphic, the acting Programme Manager of NORRIP, Mr Henry Ankrah, said his attention was drawn to the fire at about 2 p.m. by some staff members at the United Nations (UN) offices, which was close to the warehouse. The Northern Regional Director of Education, Mohammed Haroon Cambodia has confirmed government will be paying a staggering GHC400,000 as judgment debt to a private citizen in order to stop the auctioning of vehicles belonging to the Ghana Senior High School in Tamale. Government is offering the bailout following a chronic transport difficulty that has hit the school for the last two years after a court order impounded the only bus for students and a brand new official pickup vehicle. Two Nissan patrol vehicles belonging to the Education directorate were also taken by the court. The vehicles were confiscated to be auctioned to pay up salary arrears of a former headmaster of the school who accused the school and education service of injustices including inappropriate dismissal and concealing his promotion letter.
