NaCCA holds training programme for publishers on CCP Curriculum
On the 5th of October, 2021, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) in collaboration with Rainbow Plus Publications held a training programme for publishers on the Common Core Programme (CCP) Curriculum and its implementation at the Christian Village, Kumasi.
The programme was to sensitise publishers on the contents of the CCP and the role of publishers in its implementation. In his address, the Acting Director-General for NaCCA, Mr John Mensah Anang, thanked Rainbow Publications for such a partnership heralding the yet-to-be introduced curriculum for learners from B7 (JHS 1) to B9 (JHS 3). He hinted that by practice textbook development process takes a minimum of eighteen months – desktop review, manuscript development, trial testing, content editing, proofreading, illustration, layout design, quality assurance and printing.
The Acting Director-General also disclosed that plans are far advanced to train teachers on the new curriculum to enable them deliver as expected. He cautioned publishers to studiously adhere to all laid down procedures on the publishing of quality books with relevant content for Ghanaian pupils.
On his part, Mr John Akwasi Amponsah, CEO for Rainbow Publications Limited, reiterated the relevance of the stakeholder consultative meeting organised by NaCCA. He stated that the capacities of publishers would be sharpened to enable them to publish textbooks – that are wholesome for learners and relevant to the curriculum.
