Mahama calls Bawumia to console him on loss of his mother

John Dramani Mahama, the former president on Monday called the Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to console him on the passing of his mother.
Hajia Mariama Bawumia died on Monday 13 September 2021 in Accra after a short illness.
“I just got off the phone with my brother, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to console him and the entire family on the loss of their mother, Hajia Mariama Bawumia earlier this morning. May Allah grant her a peaceful rest,” Mahama, the 2020 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) posted on Facebook.

Hajia Bawumia was aged 82.
She had been unwell and hospitalised over the past few weeks.
“It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved mother Hajia Mariama Bawumia.
“Hajia Mariama passed away peacefully this morning in Accra. Burial is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday September 14, 2021 in Walewale. May the Almighty Allah grant her Jannatul Firdaus,” Dr Bawumia said in a statement.
Shock
Alan Kyerematen, the Minister of Trade said he “learnt with shock and sadness the passing into eternity of Hajia Mariama Bawumia.”
“My wife, Patricia and l extend our deep sympathies to Dr. Bawumia, his wife Samira, and the rest of the family,” he said in a statement.
A native of Kpasenkpe in the West Mamprusi District, Hajia Mariama was one of the first Northern female students to gain admission to the prestigious Wesley Girls’ High School in Cape Coast in the Central Region.
During her 80th birthday in 2019, Dr Bawumia in a Facebook post described her as “the pillar of my life”.
“I always thank the Almighty God for giving me such a caring and supportive mother. She has always been there for us. The pillar,” he said in that post.
