Gushegu MP offers free University Education to 15 students

The Member of Parliament for Gushegu Constituency, lawyer Hassan Tampuli, through Tullow Oil Ghana Ltd, has offered opportunities to about 15 students in the constituency to be trained at the Regional Maritime University.

He said his outfit through the support from Tullow Ghana is spending about $1,200 on the school fees of about 15 students from his constituency.

The Deputy Minister for Transport made this known when he addressed party members at the just ended Gushegu Constituency Delegates Conference of the NPP on Wednesday August 25th, 2021.

According to him, his priority as an MP is to empower the youth through education indicating that education is the key to human development, and to see development in the Gushegu constituency, there was the need to collaborate with benevolent institutions to support needy students.

Mr Tampuli emphasised his readiness to support students who are willing to further their education at the highest level.

“One day, I want to see the children from Gushegu be like Lawyer Tampuli, or Professors, Doctors, or Engineers”, he remarked.

It would be recalled that, the MP earlier this year paid the school fees of some 46 students in his constituency. Mr Tampuli in an interview said he has spent about GHC 60,000 on the school fees.

The Deputy Minister also revealed that his outfit is on course to establish a community Arts Centre in Gushegu with auxiliary facilities including ITC lab, training center, restaurant, and other recreational components to improve art work in the area.

Mr Tampuli who recently donated farm tractors to farmers in his constituency, reiterated his commitment towards developing the agricultural sector, and revealed he has procured more farm tractors, combined harvesters and other farm inputs to support farmers in the area.

The Supreme Court has declared the late Paramount Chief of the Nanumba Traditional Area, (Bimbilla), Naa Dasana Andani, as the rightful chief of the area. Wednesday’s decision brings clarity to the protracted Bimbila chieftaincy crisis that had led to the death of many people including Naa Andani in 2014. Another claimant to the Bimbilla skin, the late Nakpa Naa Salifu Dawuni, filed the appeal at the Supreme Court challenging the decision of the National House of Chiefs. UDS warns students against occultism

Professor Gabriel Ayum Teye, Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS) has warned students against occultism, anti-social and non-conformist activities, saying the rules of the university frown on such acts. He said: “We totally reject and will not countenance the activities of unregistered clubs and associations and occultism.
