Tamale MPs don’t support my Educational Fund – Dakpema Naa

The Chief of Tamale, Naa Dakpema Alhaji Alhassan Dawuni, has expressed disappointment at the lack of interest in the development of education by some opinion leaders, indigenes including Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Tamale metropolis. 
Speaking on behalf of the Dakpema Naa Alhaji Alhassan Dawuni at his palace on November 16, 2015, the Spokesperson to Dakpema Naa, Chief Sabanaa Abass Salifu said it was so sad that none of the MPs from the Tamale metropolis had contributed to the Dakpema Education Fund to help support needy students.
According to Chief Sabanaa, despite the level of influence and wealth of parliamentarians, none of the four MPs from the Tamale metropolis including, Haruna Iddirsu of Tamale South, Inusah Fuseini of Tamale Central, Alhaji ABA Fuseini of Sagnarigu and Alhassan Dahaman of Tamale North Constituencies have ever supported the Dakpema Education Fund.
He lauded Engineer Ibrahim Seidu, one of the aspiring NDC parliamentary candidates for Tamale Central for donating an amount of GH¢5,000 to support the Dakpema Education Fund. Chief Sabanaa disclosed that the fund is being run on individual donations and however appealed to all and sundry including market women to contribute towards the education of brilliant but needy students from the Tamale Metropolis.
The spokesperson to Dakpema Naa, Chief Sabanaa Abass Salifu said the Dakpema Education Fund was established in 2009 to serve as auxiliary funds to take care of brilliant but needy students who qualify to enter Senior High Schools and Tertiary Institutions but are unable to do so due to financial constraints.
He said the Fund, since its inception, has helped many needy students to gain admission into both SHS and Tertiary Institutions. He hinted that many needy students are on the Fund’s list to enter into various educational institutions but funds are not forthcoming.
