Enforcement of teacher licensing law begins 2023

Effective January next year, the National Teaching Council (NTC) will begin the enforcement of the law on teacher licensing in the country. This means that all teachers in public and private schools have between now and December 31, 2022 to possess a licence before they can teach in any school in the country. The failure to have a licence will result in prosecution of the unlicensed teacher and owner of the school employing such a person. “Now, we are moving into the licensing enforcement stage and from January 2023, anybody who does not have the authorisation (licence) to teach, the NTC will deal with that person because the law is clear; you can be prosecuted for not owning a licence and teaching,” the Registrar of the NTC, Dr Christian Addai-Poku, told the Daily Graphic in Accra. Mion Paramount Chief and heir apparent to Ya Naa who died yesterday laid to rest

The Paramount Chief of Mion and heir apparent to Ya Naa who died on Wednesday has been buried. The Dagbon Kingdom has been thrown into a state of shock and mourning following the death of the Paramount Chief of the Mion Traditional Area, Mion-Lama Naa Mahamadu Abdulai V. He was 48-years-old. He reportedly died on Wednesday morning at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra. Graphic Online gathers he has since been laid to rest at Sambu, the traditional capital of Mion in line with Dagbon custom and tradition. He left behind four wives and 12 children. The late Naa Mahamadu Abdulai V was the heir apparent to the Dagbon Skin. He was the next in line after the reigning Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Naa Abukari II per the rotational system of the Dagbon kingship. Known in private life as Mahamadu Abdulai, the late Mion Lana was born in 1974. The United Kingdom (UK) is supporting Ghana with 70 Husky armoured vehicles for security operations in the northern parts of Ghana. The UK Minister for Africa, Vicky Ford has arrived in Ghana to announce the new UK-Ghana defence deal. The Husky is a medium-armoured high-mobility tactical support vehicle. Chief of Sagnarigu donates GHc20k to UDS Endowment Fund

The Paramount Chief of the Sagnarigu Traditional Area, Sagnar Naa Ambassador Yakubu Abdulai has donated an amount of twenty thousand Ghana cedis (GHC 20,000) to the University for Development Studies Endowment Fund, (UDSEF). The donation was in fulfillment of a promise made by him during the Launch of the fund in many well-wishers who were present pledged various amounts of money amounting to a total of One hundred and Forty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 140,000). The cash donation was received on behalf of the University, by the Director of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Hardi Shaibu, and the Director of ICT, Dr. Abdul Wahid Mohammed.
