The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a statement to invite suitable qualified serving officers/teachers to apply for consideration for promotion to the ranks or grades of:

  • Deputy Director
  • Assistant Director I 
  • Assistant Director Il 
  • Principal Superintendent

How to apply 

1. Launch a browser (e.g. Chrome). 

2. Enter the URL below: 

https://www.gespromotions.gov.gh/ 

in the address bar. 

3. Tap/click on Apply for Promotion. 

4. Choose Teaching Staff from the options provided. (You can also choose Non-teaching). 

5. Click on Start a New Application.

6. Complete the form that pops up and tap/click on Start Application. 

Note: The staff ID is to be confirmed. 

7. Another form will pop up, with the following portions already filled:

  • Application code
  • Staff ID 
  • Primary Phone number 
  • Grade or rank applying for. 

With the warning that, 

"NB: Kindly copy and save the Application Code & Staff ID. This code will be used to access the saved application form. 

8. Complete the rest of the form by providing the following information:

  • Full Name 
  • Date of Birth
  • Email 
  • Additional Contact numbers (Optional) 

9. Tap/click on Save and Continue

10. Another form will pop up, requesting for applicants to provide information about applicant’s Present School and Service Details

Present School require the following information:

  • School name and address 
  • Region
  • District 

Service Details require the following information:

  • Present Grade
  • Masters Qualification (if any) 
  • Registered Number 
  • Notional Date Appointed to present Grade
  • Substantive Date Appointed to present Grade
  • SSNIT Number 

11. Click on Save and Continue

12. Upload the following information (files) to back the above information:

  • Passport Size picture in jpg
  • Last Promotion letter/Appointment letter/Masters Certificate 
13. Tap/click on Save and Continue. 

14. After saving, 
  • Tap/click on Print Submission 
  • Tap/click on Click to Review to make changes to the information 
  • Tap/click on View Document to view passport picture and the document uploaded. 


Information needed to register for GES Promotion Test:

  • Title (Mr./Miss/Mrs./Dr./Prof. Etc
  • Surname
  • First name
  • Middle name
  • Previous name
  • Date of birth
  • Contact number(s)
  • Email
  • Present station
  • District of present station
  • Region of the present station
  • Present grade
  • Notional date appointed to present grade
  • Substantive date appointed to present grade
  • Registered number
  • Staff I'd
  • SSNIT number
  • Do you have a Master's Degree?
  • Master's Degree ( Area of specialization)
  • Master's degree ( date acquired)
  • Highest academic qualifications and date obtained
  • highest professional qualification and date obtained

The following documents should be scanned into pdf for upload:

  • Appointment Letter 
  • Promotion letter or Upgrading Letter (anyone)
  • Masters Degree Certificate 

Passport Picture should be scanned into the format- jpeg or png on red or white plain background.
