Collective Agreement for Teaching Staff within GES - August , 2020


The Conditions of Service for teachers working under the Ghana Education Service across the country expired in December, 2019.

Following the expiration of the conditions of Service for Teachers in 2019, the various Teachers Unions in the country sat at the negotiation table with Government and negotiated a new Conditions of Service for Teachers under the Ghana Education Service.

The Government of Ghana and the Teacher  Unions within the Ghana Education Service, comprising of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers, (NAGRAT) and Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana (CCT-GH)) on 5th March, 2020 agreed on a new Conditions of service for Teachers.

Below are details of the New collective agreement between the Government of Ghana and the three Teacher Unions within the Ghana Education Service as sighted in the implementation approval letter as signed by the deputy minister of finance, Hon. Abena Osei-Asare to the Controller and Accountants-General.


By this approval, all other rates, hitherto, applied by institutions within the Ghana Education Service cease to exist. The conditions of service as mentioned above and all others as contained in the Collective Agreement are applicable for three (3) years from 2020-2023.
