Jordan Ayew tests positive for coronavirus

Jordan Ayew has tested positive for coronavirus after returning from international duty with Ghana.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson revealed on Sunday after the striker missed the Premier League clash against Brighton.

Jordan did not make the squad for the 1-1 draw in the M23 derby at Selhurst Park.

“Yes, he [Jordan Ayew] tested positive after returning from international duty with Ghana like many other Ghanaian players. We were quite happy for him to go but has now returned and can’t play,” Hodgson told reporters.

“I don’t know when he will return but like all, he has to follow the government guidelines so I don’t know,” he added.

Jordan reacted to the news on Twitter.

He becomes the third Black Stars player after Bernard Mensah and Gideon Mensah to test positive for the virus following the international friendly games against Mali and Qatar.

The 29-year-old featured in all two games in Antalya, Turkey.

Ahead of the Mali game, it was confirmed that four players of the Eagles had tested positive.
