How to block porn sites on Android using DNS

As a parent, you must take back control of your family’s browsing by keeping out adult contents, while allowing access to websites that are useful and age-appropriate.

Why Your Family Needs Porn Protection

More than half of all children are accidentally exposed to pornography each year. Porn blocking software are very  important to prevent accidental exposure but they are very expensive.

But porn blocking is very important for families because your kids can easily stumble upon or search for mature, offensive or dangerous content online.

Minimize Accidental Exposure To Pornography

With children accessing the Internet daily, the chance of them seeing mature content is on the rise. In fact, the average age of children viewing pornography is eleven years old.

Porns are advertised in software such as games, browsers, and even on some OS apps – getting rid of them may seem impossible.

Luckily, there is a way to block porns on Android and protect your family from porns and other adult contents.

The easiest and free solution for annoying porns is by tinkering with your phone settings. But a good porn blocker will be more effective.

In this article, I'll give you a detailed guide on how to block adult contents on Android using Private DNS without acquiring any app.

This method only works on Android 9 Pie and above.

What is DNS?

DNS stands for Domain Name System. It is like the "address book" of the Internet.  Your browsers and apps use it to translate domain names that make no sense to them into IP addresses that they can understand.

In addition to resolving DNS requests, it blocks ads, trackers, porns and malicious domains. You can use it instead of your current DNS provider.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to changing DNS on Android to block porns:

  1. Tap on Settings

  2. Tap Connections

  3. Tap on More Connection Settings

  4. Tap on Private DNS.

  5. Choose the option Private DNS Provider Hostname.

  6. Enter adult-filter-dns.cleanbrowsing.org.

  7. Tap on Save

That's it! You'll no longer see adult contents such as porn on browsers.

Video Tutorial below:

Note: Keep in mind that on some Android devices, the DNS settings might be different.

In that case, look for Private DNS settings and the option to manually input the required information.

With DNS, you get rootless porn blocking on your Androd device, but there's a chance it might not block all porn sites.
