BECE: 2021 results out

Provisional results of the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has been released by the West African Examinations Council. The Council will dispatch the results to the schools through the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education. Meanwhile, the result have been posted online and candidates who desire may access their results online at the Council's website  www.waecgh.org . Click here to Check Your BECE Result! A total of 572,167 candidates made up of 287,730 males and 284,437 females wrote the examination. Out of that 61 had visual impairment and 321 were identified with hearing impairment. Tamale Metro Education to start the distribution of tm1 laptops next week

The distribution of teachers laptops under the ‘one teacher one laptop’ project by the government of Ghana may commenced in the Tamale Metro Education Directorate in the Northern Region on Monday. The Directorate has released the distribution schedule for JHS schools in the Metro.  The distribution will start with some selected JHS as shown below: Teachers in the above schools, whose names have been validated for the collection of the TM1 laptops should visit Tamale Metro - GES on Monday, 28/02/2022 with a valid ID Card for collection.  Time for the visit is at 1:30pm. Any teacher who visit the office before the given time will not be serve.

Tamale Dakpema is not a ‘Chief’ but a Fetish Priest, Yaa-Naa clarifies

Ya-Na Abubakari Mahama II  Overlord of Dadgon His Majesty Ndan Ya-Na has clarified that Tamale Dakpema Bawa Fuseini is not a recognized chief within the traditional system of Dagbon but a Fetish Priest otherwise known as a “Tindana”. According to Ndan Ya-Na Abubakari Mahama II Naa Yaba Gulkpe Naa is the Paramount Chief of the Gulkpegu Traditional Area and is in charge of the Greater Tamale Metropolis and serve as the official representative of His Majesty Ndan Ya-Na in Tamale. It will be recalled that Diamondfmonline.com on January 29, 2022 reported about the seeming confusion between some Paramount Chiefs and the Tamale Dakpema over the later holding himself publicly as the paramount Chief of Tamale. Policeman in Lamashegu shooting incident granted GH¢10,000 bail

The Tamale Circuit Court has granted a GH¢10,000 bail with two sureties to the policeman involved in the Lamashegu shooting incident which resulted in the death of one person. The deceased identified as Abdul Hakim, a resident of Lamashegu is said to have been hit by a stray bullet, fired by the police. General Corporal Samson Kweku Darfour has pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawful discharge of weapon and causing harm. The case has been adjourned to March 23, 2022. At Thursday’s hearing, the prosecution amended the facts presented at the first hearing. The prosecution indicated that the accused was the leader of the team which was detailed to monitor crime along the Tamale stadium forest road. GES begins confirmation of SHS selection for 2021 BECE candidates

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has commenced the verification and confirmation of senior high school (SHS) choices for the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) candidates. The exercise will be done through bulk SMS, USSD messaging and online, and will end on Tuesday, February 22,2022. The exercise will allow candidates to confirm or correct details such as  selected  schools, courses, residential status , gender among others; but not make changes to their choice of schools. A statement issued by the GES on Tuesday said the confirmation and verification process is part of measures to ensure a smooth placement into SHS this year. Vice-President opens 3,000 free online courses

An integrated online learning (e-learning) programme to deliver 3,000 courses for the youth and professionals in the country at no cost has been launched in Accra. The courses cover artisanal, entrepreneurship and technical and vocational education and training (TVET). The government has partnered the Layden Educational Foundation, a social enterprise and brainchild of the programme, to deliver the courses free of charge to the youth and professionals. To be based at the University of Ghana, the Leydon-Alison Integrated Online Programme Centre targets secondary school leavers, graduates, undergraduates, workers, corporate and business people, as well as other individuals. Lamashegu: 6 police officers interdicted after shooting at Chief’s palace

Six police officers have been interdicted following violence in Lamashegu, Tamale, that left one person dead and eight wounded on Sunday afternoon. Police and residents clashed after officers allegedly shot a 24-year-old man. Police in a statement said a team of investigators had been dispatched to the area, led by the Deputy Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). “Personnel from the Police Professional Standards Bureau have also been detailed alongside the CID team to look at professional standard related issues of the incident,” a statement from police said. The Northern Regional Police Commander has been tasked to liaise with the affected families and offer them the necessary support in line with Police Regulations. Police further appealed to the people of Lamashegu and the entire Tamale Metropolis to remain calm as investigations continue into the unfortunate occurrence.
