New GES Directive for Approval for Sandwich, Distance, Weekend and Evening Courses

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced new guidelines for approval of Sandwich, Distance, Weekend and Evening Courses.

The GES in a letter dated September 6, 2021, to all regional directors and signed by its head of Human Resource, indicated, that the guidelines for applications for approval for Post Diploma Bachelor of Education (Sandwich, Distance, Weekend, and Evening) programmes have been revised, effective Tuesday 7th September 2021.

Steps to apply for Sandwich and Distance Courses effective September 7

Step 1: An Applicant will apply through the District/Municipal/Metro Directors of Education to the Regional Director. 

Step 2: The Regional directorate will compile the details of all qualifying applicants to the headquarters using the attached template. 

Step 3: After the Director-General's approval is given, the Regional Director will issue an approval letter to complete the process using the attached template.

GES boss introduces early childhood teacher award

  A special award to recognise the outstanding contributions of an early childhood education teacher to the development of children will be introduced at this year’s Ghana Teacher Prize Awards Ceremony. Known as the DG’s Award for the Best Early Childhood Teacher , the initiative is the brainchild of the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa. “One of the areas that is very key to me is the level at which we lay the foundation and that is the early childhood. Tamale Interchange project to open to traffic by December

Work on the two-tier Tamale Interchange project is progressing steadily, with the contractor targeting to complete the construction process by the end of this year. Currently, work is about 80 per cent complete and — barring any unforeseen developments — it will be opened to traffic by December. The completed works constitute the first and second phases of the project, which entails the construction of box girders and the deck on top of which the roadway will be put to form the overpass, both of which have been laid. Slip lanes for those who would not need to drive on the overpass has been laid, while 10 kilometres of roads within the central business district of the metropolis will be laid with asphalt as part of the final part of the phase two.
