Barcamp Tamale participants condemn sex scandal

Participants at the fourth edition of the Tamale Barcamp Ghana have condemned the sex scandal which went viral on social media networks.

They however cautioned against any attempt to use that isolated phenomenon to hastily generalize that Tamale has lost its  trademark as the beacon of Islam in Ghana.

The event which was organized by GhanaThink Foundation brought together about 180 youth from across the Northern Region.

The participants interacted and networked with role models whose successes in various disciplines cannot be underestimated.

The participants were taken through activities such as speed mentoring, panel discussions and user generated breakout sessions.

These activities sought to harness the energy, drive and entrepreneurial spirit of participants to bring about positive action.

Director of GhanaThink Foundation, Ato Ulzen Appiah advocated the need to put in measures to prevent the Tamale sex scandal from reoccurring.

On the main event, he explained that it was meant to build a network of young change makers, doers and entrepreneurs in Northern Ghana.

According to Ato Ulzen, 15 mentors were invited to positively reorient the psyche of the participants on how to develop the can do spirit in building their communities and the nation at large.

He inspired the Ghanaian youth to stop complaining about lack of employment and be innovative to improve their living conditions.

He hinted his outfit’s willpower to strengthen its junior camps established in Senior High Schools across the country.

He disclosed the organization’s move to adopt and renovate some selected Senior High Schools in the country.

He said blood donation was paramount on GhanaThink’s comprehensive agenda.

Barcamp Ghana was initiated in December 2008 and has since organized 30 events which culminated into business startups such as Afrochic –Google, Developer Groups, Junior Camp Ghana and new career opportunities.

It is a platform which creates opportunity for participants to network, discuss important issues and develop new partnerships.

The GhanaThink Foundation is a Ghanaian based youth led Non Governmental Organization which is replicated in the United States.

Primarily, it was established to harness the diverse talents of Ghanaians both home and in the Diaspora to zealously project the image of Ghana and Africa in a positive limelight.

GhanaThink has since its establishment galvanized young entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into projects, programs and ventures.

Another brainchild of GhanaThink is the Ghana Volunteer Program which was created out of the successes of the first National Volunteer Day (NVDay) which falls on Founder’s Day.

GhanaThink supports many Ghanaian initiatives through promotion, online engagement and resourcing.
