Abedi, Weah to play Novelty Match in Kumasi

Two football greats, Abedi Ayew Pele and George Oppong Weah will lead ex-football stars from ten African countries to play a Novelty match and Movie Shoot that will fight against human trafficking and rights abuse in Africa.

The launch for Novelty match and movie shoot took place at the British Council in Accra.

In attendance were notable ex-footballers like former World Player of the Year George Oppong Weah and Tony Baffoe.

Sponsored by Next 2 None, a support initiative, it came into partnership with the former African footballers to combat human trafficking, using the entertainment industry as a veritable tool to fight against this cancerous menace that has eaten deep into the fabric of the society.

Mr. Ndukwe Sam Obu, a legal practitioner, facilitator and trustee of Next 2 None, said the support initiative is by men and women of proven integrity, “who share the same passion, dream and goal to actualize this lofty goal of affecting positive change in our society.”

“I stand to support this endeavor through my participation in the Football Match which seek to promote humanity, and to eradicate child trafficking by featuring football legends of Africa,” Oppong Weah said.

“This game that has always been a unifying factor will serve to amass support around this campaign against Human Trafficking and abuse.”

Other football icons who will participate in the charity game are Christian Chukwu (Nigeria), Roger Milla (Cameroon), Abdoulaye Traore (Cote d’Ivoire), Kalusha Bwalya (Zambia), Noureddine Naybert (Morocco), Salif Keita (Mali), Lukas Radebe (South Africa) and Moussa Latoundji (Benin).
